Generation’s Junior Data Engineer training program aims to break through the traditional job requirements that focus solely on educational background and provide a starting point for aspiring individuals to enter the IT industry. This 12-week program will equip learners with the necessary technical and soft skills to kickstart their careers in the technology field.

Even without relevant knowledge or work experience in the technology industry, you can join the field of data analytics or relevant work through our comprehensive training program that will equip you with the necessary industry skills, workplace mindset and behavioral techniques, employment counseling, tips for job search, and job placement services.

Professional knowledge and skills training

The 12-week training program will be led by experienced industry professionals, they will guide you through computer programming concepts and techniques. Additionally, the training curriculum encompasses a diverse range of topics, including Generative AI, Machine Learning, Data Pipelines, Data Collection, Data Processing and Analysis, Analytical Tools, Data Visualization, Python, SQL, Power BI, and more. 

The program emphasizes the practical application of theoretical concepts by engaging in various exercises and two data analysis group projects. These hands-on experiences will provide valuable project-based knowledge that equip learners to showcase to potential employers during an interview.

Introduction of job roles from employer partners and Job Placement Services

In addition, Generation provides comprehensive employment support aimed at equipping learners with crucial job-seeking skills. This includes resume writing skills training, interview skills training, mock interview practice and employer sharing sessions. Upon completion of the program, Generation will offer free employment referrals to assist you in transitioning to the data analysis industry.

Career Prospects

This program aims to train learners to become competent Junior Data Engineers by mastering computer programming, data pipelines, data collection, data processing and analysis, analytical tools, data visualization, Python, SQL, Power BI, and other tools and skills. It primarily consists of simulated real-world projects to provide participants with industry-relevant experience. The program is led by experienced instructors with years of data engineering experience, who will also share the latest tools and industry insights, ensuring a balance between theory and practical application. Upon completing the course, learners will have personal projects to showcase for job applications.

    Industry Skills Assessment

    You will complete an online programming course, with a test to assess your programming abilities.

    Upon successful completion of the above, you will have an orientation session with your instructors and life coach, where you will receive detailed information about the program schedule for the coming weeks and get to know your fellow classmates.

Requirements

  • First time job seekers between the ages of 18 to 29
  • No prior academic background or work experience in the relevant industry
  • Proficient in both English and Chinese languages
  • Aspiring to become a Junior Data Engineer and ready for immediate employment upon completing the course
  • Interest in data research and enthusiastic about actively learning new tools
  • Strong logical thinking skills and adept at defining and clarifying key concepts
  • Legally eligible for employment in Hong Kong
  • Applicants will need to pass a simple online logic and industry knowledge assessment, as well as an interview
  • Prerequisite Knowledge: Basic computer and programming skills. If you are lack knowledge about it, you can acquire basic programming knowledge through completing the free online course

  • Holders of a bachelor's degree: Unemployed (full-time/part-time) for more than 6 consecutive months
  • Non-degree or associate degree holders: Unemployed (full-time/part-time) for more than 12 consecutive months
    *Priority will be given to non-university graduates who hold a Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) or an equivalent qualification (including International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme, Foundation Diploma, and Diploma Yi Jin) for program application.
